Bio
Adelaide Ivánova was born in Recife, Brazil. Her work concentrates on the
human body in its daily concreteness, both in its natural naked exposures to
the world and in the role playing games of dressing for the creation of an
identity. To this effect, she works with portraits of friends and lovers in
moments of utter intimacy, recalling the work of a forerunner like Nan
Goldin, and at the same time producing fashion photography with a candidness
and delicacy unusual for such pictures. The beauty of her work remains in
the mixing of such references, bringing movement and intimacy to the what
usually falls into posing, which brings her closer to an artist like Walter
Pfeiffer or photographers of her own age such as Brett Lloyd. Adelaide
Ivánova has published photographs in a variety of magazines such as i-D or
Colors and is currently showing in Madrid, Spain. Adelaide Ivánova lives and
works in Sao Paulo.
