Bio
Amanda Stewart is a poet, visual artist, performing vocalist and
author. Since the late seventies she has created and
presented a variety of poetic works, performances, radio and
multimedia works in Australia, Japan, United States , and several
countries in Europe. From 1983-1993 she
worked full time at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Sydney
as a radio producer and since then has worked freelance. Co-Founder of
the groups Machine For Making Sense and Allos. With composer Collin
Bright, she is the author of the opera The Sinking of the Rainbow
Warrior. Her works and performances have been seen in festivals of
poetry, new music and visual arts, including the Sydney Bienalle, Ars
Electronica (Linz, Austria), Polysonnerie (Lyon, France), Proposta
(Barcelona, Spain - curated by Eduard Escoffet) and Soho Festival (New
York, USA). She is the author of "i/t", a book and compact disc with a
compilation of works created between 1980 and 1996. Recent works
include The Purity of Forgetting (Deutschlandradio Kultur, Berlin,
2007), Dust
(WDR, Cologne, 2007) with Stephan Froleyks and the short one act play
Solace, published in Beckett Pause (Sonderzahl Press, Vienna, 2007).
Amanda Stewart lives and works in Sydney, Australia.
