Bio
Ricardo Domeneck is a writer, multimedia poet and video artist born in
the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He moved towards video and performance
after publishing first books, having worked with actors and dancers in
the techniques assembled by the Brazilian choreographer Klauss
Vianna, and such corporeal experience would become important in the
development of his work. Ricardo Domeneck has performed and read in
festivals of South America and Europe, such as the Salida al Mar in
Buenos Aires, and the Poesie Festival in Berlin. Defending the concept
of no distinctions between curatorial work and creative production,
Ricardo Domeneck has adopted dadaist cabaret strategies and taken on
the motto of the "death of the artist, after Duchamp, and the rise of
the cultural interventionist", which takes on the praxis feature of
Domeneck's work as a DJ and curator of weekly interventions in Berlin,
organizing among others the event known as berlin hilton, with Oliver
Krueger and Viktor Neumann. With Oliver Krueger (aka DJ OL!) and also
Philipp Sapp (aka DJ K.Jell), Domeneck (aka DJ kate boss) founded the
independent label Kute Bash Records, which has released the multimedia
duo Tetine, with whom the poet has collaborated in various occasions.
He is the editor of a printed poetry magazine in Brazil, called Modo
de Usar & Co., with poets Angélica Freitas, Fabiano Calixto and
Marília Garcia, and has edited various online projects. Ricardo
Domeneck has been translated into Spanish, German, English and Catalan
and included in the anthologies Cuatro Poetas Recientes del Brasil
(Buenos Aires: Black & Vermelho, 2006) and Ueberland und Leuchtende
Staedte - 12 Dichterinnen und Dichter aus Lateinamerika (Berlin:
SuKulTur, 2006), among other magazine-based anthologies of Brazilian
poetry. In video, his interventions spawn from club walls to the
Brazilian public television. In both writing and video, concentrates
on his own body as fixed set of materials. Ricardo Domeneck lives and
works in Berlin.
